Why River Girls?
Looks Good, Smells Good, Feels Good.
For more than a decade, our studio's motto has been, "Gentle Beauty ~ Artfully Handcrafted." Our products are fragrant yet soothing, geared toward dry skin seeking to be quenched. Each soap bar, balm and bath treat is mixed and poured by hand in our artisan studio. In addition to our delicious everyday offerings, River Girls also creates custom soaps for weddings, birthdays, and themed celebrations.
Yum. Skin Loving Oils
River Girls' popular glycerin bars begin with a mild 98% natural coconut soap base, free of detergents. They are made creamier and more decadent with our proprietary blend of olive and avocado oils and cocoa and shea butters. Specialty soaps include additional healthy ingredients like oatmeal and apricot seeds.
River Girls' creams and balms are 98-100% natural. Whether it be our hand whipped body, foot and face creams or our ever popular All Better Balm, we use no animal fat nor mineral oil. Instead we select and blend apricot, almond, avocado, macadamia, sesame and other fruit and nut oils.
Fragrances to Die For
We won't lie. We love fragrance. One of River Girls' enduring hallmarks has been soap with scents that say, "Yum," "Wow!," "Ohhhh Yes." This is accomplished both by fragrance and essentials oils. More importantly, each of our soaps and creams are made with complex blends, most which we dream about, contemplate and then mix and blend in our Studio. So when you see the name Williamsburg Night, know that a trip to a spice shop one night inspired that creation.
We Love Snoopy & Garfield Too
River Girls' soap and toiletries are cruelty-free and never, ever tested on animals. Our products are decidedly vegetarian, most of them vegan.

Community & Country Inspire Us ... Dad Too!
Since its establishment in 2000, River Girls has called Washington DC home. As an artisan business, we are dedicated to building strong ties to local and national companies. We are proud to be a homegrown US endeavor, and in our creations thrilled to utilize a roster of 100% American based suppliers. These include the renowned fragrance and soap supplier, Brambleberry, in Washington State, and bottle suppliers SKS in upstate New York and Mad Oils in Florida. In DC, George Fleming, our Dad and gardener with 50 years of experience, graces us with organic peonies, lavender, mint, lemon balm and other herbs.*
Each year, River Girls provides a modest donation to a select local charity. Past recipients have included DC Youth Orchestra and Saint Ann's Infant and Maternity Home.

* George Lloyd Fleming died on May 27, 2013 after a two year battle with colon cancer. Daddy grew up on a farm and was an avid flower and vegetable gardener. He cultivated breathtaking white and pink peonies for 50 years beginning in 1963. Their beauty was matched only by their unforgettable fragrance. Our PEONY 63 soap is dedicated to his memory.
